How to Survive Against Pyramid Head in Dead by Daylight

The game of Dead by Daylight has got a new DLC, and this DLC is the much awaited “Silent Hill” DLC, and that means there is now the terrifying new killer, the dreadful Pyramid Head.

The most desired DLC for Dead by Daylight has finally arrived outside of the player test build- the Silent Hill Chapter. However, even players who don’t have the DLC have the possibility to encounter the newest killer while surviving: Pyramid Head.

How to Survive Against Pyramid Head in Dead by Daylight

In Dead by Daylight, the iconic villain Pyramid Head is known by its original title, Executioner. What makes this monster extra scary and dangerous is its ability to completely change up how rounds in Dead by Daylight play out by allowing Pyramid Head to sacrifice survivors without the usage of hooks. It is called the “Rites of Judgment.”

For players who are new to the game and to how the Pyramid Head works, it cannot be very clear. But for players who have the idea of how to deal with Pyramid Head, and knowing what to expect can make surviving a lot easier.

Following the usual trends with a killer, you need to understand it; you need to understand his main power to play around with him. And as mentioned before, Pyramid Head has the one; this power is called Rites of Judgment. There are mainly two different parts to this power.

The first trick that Pyramid Head uses and the first part that players need to be wary of is the trails that he carves into the ground. To the benefit of the player, this carved trail is extremely visible, mostly because of the red blood and razor wire that comes up out of it. Any survivor who, while running hits the line or crosses it while running or walking, will immediately be afflicted with the torment status effect. But it doesn’t end there; the Pyramid Head will also be notified of the player’s location, causing further problems. Avoiding this outcome is really easy as all the player needs to do is crouch while walking over it, this will let players avoid this effect.

The second trick up its monstrous Head is the second thing players need to avoid; this is an attack mover called “Punishment of the Damned.” This attack lets Pyramid Head smash the great knife that he has in his hand in front of him that leads to the formation of a wave that will damage any survivor in its way. But there is one condition on when Pyramid Head can do this, and that is only when it is carving the trails. So it is a pretty good idea to stay out of his vision while he is carving. But nonetheless, if you still fall into his vision, the best way to avoid the wave is to just step sidewards as the wave just moves forward.

The final part and possibly its strongest power is the “Cage of Atonement.”  How this is triggered is that if any survivor is afflicted by the torment status effect while in dying health, Pyramid Head can instantly send them to a Cage of Atonement instead of a hook. The cages are a new feature, but they act the same way as hooks in the game. Like if a survivor is caught and hooked or caged for three times, he or she will be sacrificed. While in the second stage, survivors must complete skill checks to survive instead of mashing the space bar or its equivalent. Players who will be freed from the cages will lose their torment status effect, and that is understandable, but the catch in this situation is that the other survivor who might free the caged person will lose their torment status too.

To make it extra scary and terrifying is a survivor has the torment status effect and will normally die on their last hook or caging; Pyramid Head can kill them by hand with Final Judgment if they are in the dying state.

For players fighting against the Pyramid Head, have one sure-fire way to make this struggle a lot easier, and that is to completely avoid the torment status effect. This gives the survivor an upper edge. Players who are playing as the killer, and in this case, are playing as Pyramid Head, can use the “Rites of Judgment” to block off roads and pathways and corner the survivor. But still being afflicted by the torment status effect can be avoided just by some crouch walking.  However, players should be careful in chases to not get cornered from these trails. Pyramid Head additionally has add-ons that make these trails more powerful.
