Leak Confirms the Name of Final Season of Destiny 2 Year 3
Leaks of data before a game is released are almost impossible to stop in today’s world, and it has become commonplace. The final Season of year three of Destiny 2 suffered the same fate. Somehow the name of the final Season of Destiny 2 Year 3 has been confirmed in a leaked Silver bundle listing on the Australian PlayStation Store. With the current Season of Destiny 2 coming to a close with the live event that it held, players have been waiting for the release of the next Season. The last Season was called Season of the Worthy, and according to the leak, the name of the next Season will be Season of Arrivals. Along with the next Season, the latest expansion is also expected to be released.
The way the seasons have worked in Destiny 2 was changed with the last expansion. This saw the game take a more vastly popular design of a two-tiered battle pass system since its Season of the Undying. All players can get the rewards on the tier list by completing various tasks laid out on the list, but only the players who will buy the battle pass will be eligible for the reward on the second tier, which is Season exclusive. The new system also introduced Season-exclusive content that is removed at the end of each Season.
The name of the new Season was first seen in the Australian PlayStation Store and was shared by Destiny 2 News on Twitter. Although not knowing if it was intentional or unintentional, the sliver bundle included the Season’s battle pass and some silver, which is the micro-transaction credit in the game, and a few normal emotes along with a legendary one. The bundle outright said it was a bundle for the new Season of Arrivals, which confirms the name, but this also might have given away the release date of the new Season. The listing alludes to the amount of hard drive storage required for the game starting from September 22, which could be seen as the launch date of the new expansion.
The silver bundle does not go into depth about the new Season in its listing. But it can be speculated what the new Season has in store from the trailers that were released where it was seen that The Drifter was heading toward Europa as well as the now-deleted teaser showing Eris Morn struggling through a snowstorm in an icy tundra that looks very much like Europa. Maybe going by the name, the upcoming Season may be related to the trailers released as the final Season of Year 3 transitions into the game’s next expansion.
Anyway, it is not something that we will need to stay without a proper answer for a long time. As Bungie, the developer for Destiny 2, has already set a big reveal event on June 9, 2020. That is sure to clear out all the doubts and rumors that might have been going around regarding the trailers or the new Season or the next expansion. It also makes sense that the company plans to unveil both the final Season of Year 3 as well as the Year 4 expansion at the same time as the narratives of both will inevitably tie in with each other.
